Abstract

This study has a twofold objective: first, to determine the efficiency of keratin extraction from human hair, by following the method suggested by Isarankura Na Ayutthaya et al. (2015); and second, to establish the electrophoretic profile of the obtained proteins. It was investigated that the efficiency of keratin extraction was 50.24 ± 8.21%. The electrophoretic analysis of keratins has shown two protein fractions in the range of 40-60 kDa, which belongs to the proteins of the intermediate filaments.
