Abstract

The modern development of border areas of Ukraine is characterized by a number of features, which is connected with historical, geo-cultural, socio-economic factors of the organization of social life of their inhabitants. In the western regions, which are geographically close to the border with the EU, the European integration policy of the Ukrainian state has an additional effect on the mobilization of labor migration. High migration mobility of the population is not only a reaction of the regional community to higher European social standards. It is institutionalized and overgrows with its own norms, rules, statuses of economic activity of the population. It becomes a source of new needs and ways to meet them. A cross-border lifestyle, together with the infrastructure that serves the migration mobility of the population, leads to the emergence of interstate territorial migration systems (TMS) − regional or cross-border labor markets, driven by additional agreements and contracts. Benefiting direct service users, these systems fulfill the mobilization function of developing both a traditional and a network economy. The emergence of new TMS functions requires detailed analysis. This can be traced also in terms of Sokal district in Lviv region.
