The article examines how to improve the accuracy of geodetic monitoring of the spatial positions of above-ground crossings of main gas pipelines in non-reflector mode. Traditional dark marks at sharp angles limit the range of electronic total stations and reduce sighting clarity. The authors justify using control deformation marks of the bisector type with an unpainted center to improve the signal reflected to the distance meter. A methodology for calculating the linear parameters of the marks, considering sighting beam lengths from 45 to 75 meters, has been developed, along with angular corrections to compensate for distortion when sighting at angles up to 53°. Experimental studies confirmed that adapting the geometry of the vertical bisector ensures consistently high aiming accuracy (mean square error of 0.6–1.1″) and eliminates the loss of accuracy at sharp beam angles compared with standard marks. The research is particularly relevant under the conditions of the war in Ukraine. Expert conclusions on the continued operation of engineering structures following military impacts should be based on geodetic control results.
