The preservation and digital modeling of historical and cultural heritage objects require modern approaches capable of providing accurate and rapid data acquisition. This study investigates the application of mobile SLAM-based laser scanning for the creation of an BIM model of the Postal Station architectural monument in Bila Tserkva, Ukraine. Spatial data were collected using the AlphaGEO R100 mobile laser scanner and processed in Lixel Studio with subsequent import into Autodesk Revit for BIM modeling. Multi-pass scanning ensured sufficient point cloud density and coverage of façades and architectural elements.
The obtained results confirmed that SLAM technology provides sufficient geometric accuracy for historical building documentation at LOD 300. Comparative analysis between the BIM model and the original point cloud showed deviations within 1.0–1.5 cm for most façade areas and about 1.3 cm for complex architectural elements. The developed model accurately reproduced façades, columns, cornices, and openings, demonstrating the suitability of SLAM-based workflows for restoration, digital conservation, and architectural analysis. The study confirms the potential of mobile SLAM systems as an efficient alternative to traditional terrestrial laser scanning in heritage documentation projects.
