Abstract

A palaeomagnetic study of Paleoproterozoic rocks of Volodarsk Volynskyi masiff of the Korosten pluston was performed. Based on the results of temperature demagnetization of studied rocks, the viscous low-temperature and high-temperature characteristic component of magnetization were identified. The characteristic bipolar component was isolated for rocks of 10 sampling sites (anorthosite and gabbro) with geochronological age ca. 1.76 Ga, its mean direction D = 213.5°, I = 10.8°, k = 60.2, α95 = 6.3°. Petromagnetic and microscopy data indicate the primary nature of this component, the carrier of which is thin isolated needle-like and lamellar exsolution ferromagnetics in plagioclases and pyroxenes. The results are in good agreement with the data previously obtained for other rocks of similar age within the Volyn and Ingul domains of the Ukrainian Shield.

The extended abstract presents new valuable data on palaeomagnetism of the Palaeoproterozoic rocks of the VVM of the Korosten pluton. Overall, the text is well written, clear and easy to read, despite a few technical issues in the abstract (pluSton; petromagnetic instead of rock magnetic; mixed British palaeo- and American magnetiZation etc.). The age or stratigraphic position of rocks should be mentioned in the title. Technical corrections, e.g. additional space between paragraphs and succeeding text, and sources in references are expected.
