Abstract

Explosive worksare often performed near the industrial, residential and cultural facilities of Kryvyi Rih, because quarries are located all over the city, including its northern part, where NMCP “Northern Mining and Concentration Plant” is located. The object of the study is buildings and the ground around them within the boundaries of sanitary protection zones during mass explosions in iron ore quarries in the city of Kryvyi Rih. The tasks of full-scale dynamic surveys are the measurement of ground vibrations at the boundary of the open pit sanitary zone at various distances from the explosion site under the influence of mass explosions in the iron ore open pit of the Northern Mining and Processing Plant in Kryvyi Rih; the measurement of structures vibrations of buildings located in the immediate vicinity or within the sanitary zone boundaries of a quarry under the influence of mass explosions. The values of soil vibration acceleration registered during industrial explosions at the building base reach the following values of 39 cm/s2 and 35 cm/s2 along BiryuzovaStreet. An analysis of the ground acceleration spectrum during explosions made it possible to establish that the prevailing frequencies are in the range of 1–48 Hz.
