Abstract

The development of understudied Cretaceous sediments and the possibility of discovering oil and gas deposits in them can provide an increase in the resource base. In this regard, it is important to substantiate the prospects of oil and gas potential of the Cretaceous deposits according to a set of criteria. These criteria include determining the nature of the distribution of reservoir rocks and cap rocks and establishing favorable structural, tectonic, and hydrogeological conditions for the formation and preservation of oil and gas deposits. A reasonable forecast of oil and gas potential increases the success of prospecting works. That is why the development of the hydrocarbon potential of Cretaceous sediments of the Outer Zone can make a significant contribution to the fuel and energy supply of Ukraine with its raw materials.

In this article, we have substantiated only a small set of hydrochemical indicators of oil and gas saturation, which reflect the peculiarities of the chemical composition inherent in the groundwater of oil and gas fields. Various chemical components, microelements, and coefficients of formation waters of the Cretaceous sediments were used as hydrochemical indicators of oil and gas saturation. The main resulting documents of hydrochemical research are maps of hydrogeological coefficients.
