In the process of determining the area of land plots, the following sizes are identified, namely area of the physical surface, i.e. area of the land surface with consideration of its topography; and area of the horizontal section of the land plot depiction in the accepted projection (normally in the transverse Mercator map projection). Referring to the set task, one of the mentioned areas is used. Nowadays, in the documents certifying the rights for land plots, the geodesic area is fixed. It is determined by measuring, based on the cartographic and topographic materials. However, if using the local system of coordinates and accepting the average level of the location as the relativity surface, the values of the geodesic and horizontal areas are almost identical.
