Abstract:

In the modern age of competitive product engineering, it is always important to find the strength of newly produced products before letting them serve in the market. Accelerated life testing is a scientifically proven approach that has been used to check the life and reliability of modern products in a short span of time. The current study deals with the advancement of accelerated life testing in the field of product warranty. The expected total cost and expected cost rate for age replacement are estimated under warranty policy using accelerated life testing (ALT) plans. Under constant stress, the lifetimes of the units are assumed to follow a generalised exponential distribution. The estimation process is carried through maximum likelihood estimation method. A well-detailed computer simulation algorithm is presented to carry the estimation process. Also, the Age Replacement Policy under Pro-rate Rebate Warranty is discussed. Finally, an application example is presented to illustrate the theoretical results.
