Abstract 

This paper analyses a great contribution of Boris Loutzky to the development of Ukranian aircraft enginebuilding. It was proved that Loutzky was at the origins of domestic aircraft engine-building. He was both a teacher and a mentor for many domestic engine and aircraft designers
