Abstract

This article discusses the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to complement terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) in the creation of dimensional drawings and 3D models of buildings. In particular, the problem of lack of data on the roof of the building and the upper parts of protruding elements is investigated, which can be solved by integrating TLS and UAV data. The object of analysis is the building of the Kyiv Hippodrome, which has a complex roof shape in the form of waves with two slopes in the middle.  The conducted review of publications describes the current state of the art of using UAV methods in combination with TLS. The paper describes the procedure for conducting UAV surveys and TLS scanning with a description of the difficulties of performing both. The results of assessing the accuracy of the UAV point cloud by flat marks on the roof of the building and by comparing point clouds in the CloudCompare software are presented.  The results confirmed the effectiveness of this approach in obtaining complete information with high-precision 3D models and show that the use of these two technologies in combination allows for more detailed and accurate information about the object.
