Lakes hold a significant place in the structure of water bodies with reduced water exchange in Ukraine. According to researchers, there are 8073 lakes and lagoons in Ukraine. Volyn region has a large number of lakes, which represent a strategic potential of freshwater, organic, mineral, biotic, and recreational resources. They serve essential hydrological, microclimatic, ecological, and landscape functions in biospheric processes. However, global climate changes significantly impact the functioning of lake ecosystems. According to the World Meteorological Organization, the period 2015-2019 was the warmest on record globally. Besides the mentioned processes, agricultural land use, soil chemicalization in watersheds, construction of modern livestock and poultry complexes, gas stations, etc., within the lake basins also significantly affect the landscape-hydroecological functioning of lakes, leading to lake pollution and accelerating sedimentation processes.
