The importance of the social and humanitarian cognition for the solution of the topical issues of the information society was determined. The main directions of the use of the Internet resources in the social and humanitarian studies were justified.
The main prospects for the mission historical museums may undertake in modern society are analysed. Special attention is paid to the fact that museums must get accustomed to the challanges of globalization process. As a consequence, the mission of museums and the approaches they employ in museum management need reconsideration. The mission of historical museums is emphasized to be closely connected with current political situation in Ukraine.
